The Press Association stand by the story that Blues made a genuine bid last month. I don't trust Jordan but I do wonder about Sulli after all the previous things we've had to put up with. Like Eddie Newton being the four Premiership stars set to sign...

Jordan is an absolute nutter who fires from the lip. If he told me the sky was blue, I'd look out of the window to check.

I'm not saying that our board hasn't played a few games but they've put some big dosh up for quality players as they became available including Bellamy, AJ, Dunn. Time to appreciate that Sully and the Golds are doing what they can to get us the right players.

On the other hand this could be DS winding up Jordan again, and as Jordan himself said he had to sell us Morrison as our interest in him unsettled him...

Naa, I really do think this is a genuine attempt by David Sullivan to try and show we are being ambitious in the window.

I am so grateful of what he and the gold's have done for us in the 13 years or whatever it is they have been here. Redevolped the ground, training pitch and got us to where we are now. But when you look at the facts, we haven't really spent to much money over the past 4 years.

I'm not having a pop and moaning. Being a blues fan the past 4 years can be described as massive success by our standards. But by the TV revunue, prize money, player sales etc, we havn't exactly spent as much cash as we are lead to believe.

Unlike the glory hunting bunch accross the road though, the majority of bluenoses accept that we shouldn't be demanding spending millions of pounds on players, despite expectations rising.

On this occasion though, similar to a few in the past, Parker, Bellmay etc, I believe Sullivan (moe than David Gold) is trying to show the fans we are bidding for big players. I can understand where Simon Jordan is coming from tbh. Now in my opinion, if Sullivan wants to get the club where he claims he wants to take us, then this kind of nonsense has got to stop.

It always seems we are 'just' missing out on big money players, or just not bidding enough for them or being a big enough club for them. Sullivan imo is making us the old Tottenham side, who always seemed to be 'bidding' for the Rivalldo's and Ronaldo's etc.

As I say, I am not being ungrateful or having a go at Sullivan, what he has done for us has been superb, but on certain occasions, he has tried to lure the fans into false optimism regarding us making big signings.

I don't doubt Sully & the Gold's commitment to the cause at all. They really seem to believe in their statements regarding blood-sucking agents killing the game, players demanding ridiculous wages and not delivering, etc.

BUT, sometimes I think we, as fans, are treated like stupid 'Heat' and 'Sport' readers and they think we will swallow rubbish time after time. The second Bellamy bid made me think this - you don't let an arrogant prat of a player get to humiliate you twice just to show the fans that you're willing to spend. How come they're only willing to spend serious money on players who, not only have NO intention of signing for us, but who they know are going to turn around and belittle our club in some way (Bellamy and Jordan) so that the Board can look like the injured party in this cruel, cruel game.

Put in a serious bid of 6 mill for someone like Robbie Keane, who actually might take a chance and come to us and I'd believe the hype. A serious bid of 2 million for Cameron Jerome or a serious bid of £3 million for Earnshaw and I might just go for it.

As it is, I think we're being fed pigswill. They have the means to keep us up and at the moment, they're not willing to do that! Why? I don't understand why! All I know is that we're treated like half-wits.

I tend to agree with you JoJo as you can see in my thread about Defoe, its all a load of absolute cack, Bowyer was the same he did not want to come here but it is always being trotted out that they are still keen to sign him. Buy A.J?? what a load of rubbish they had turned down a similar cashbid from west ham yet we make the usual 3.5 mill over a hundred years plus a couple of players deal , go ahead club, sorry i dont think so anymore <_<

My BIGGEST concern is why on earth we are even interested in a Championship quality striker like Andrew Johnson
Take his penalties away and his goal record is poor.....in fact the most important penalty he ever took for Blues.......he MISSED in the 2001 League Cup Final

And AJ really thinks he is good enough for England.......Oh give me a break.....this nonsense between Sullivan and Jordan is the latest episode (along with the Torquay and Man City debacles) that are making our club be ridculed even more in the world's media.........we are a Laughing Stock right now

Can anyboy at the club sort it out ??????

strange how things have turned round so fast. Only 18 months ago we were supposed to have establishes ourselves in "the top flight"

now we are back to our normal role as underperformers

was it all a dream?

Totally agree JoJo.

Sometimes the Blues spin machine goes into overdrive and we are expected to believe everything we are told.

I think Blues did enquire about AJ but it was done to show the fans they had "tried" to get the "higher" class players before we settle for some relative unkown or another over the hill striker.

We did it before when Wolves bought Adi Akinbyi from Bristol City. Wolves had £3.5m bid accepted, we bid £3m i think. We bid less than Wolves anyhow.

I could never understand why they never accepted our bid over Wolves?

So the Bellamy deal, we matched Balckburns bid, when Bellamy is signing for Blackburn. Bid is made in, seconds later Bellamy is on pitch being unveiled as Blackburn player.

Theres been others ..............Maccarone. Didn't we bid less than Boro after they had bid for him? .............and the AJ deal, see it how you want.

Personally I see it as Blues aren't being quick to deny a bid has been made. ...and appear quite happy to let it appear one has. They appear to like the publicity. Previous situations they have denied any interest, or bids. Why not now?

I think we need to keep all this in perspective. It is all about doing deals, not just plonking down the money. These players are not for sale in Tesco's.

The selling club have an opinion and sometimes more than one opinion - the managers opinion and the directors opinion. The agent has a opinion. The player has a opinion. The buying club has a opinion and again perhaps two - manager and directors. Newspapers have an interest in hyping the situation up and may be aided and abetted by any of the others. The fans have an opinion that puts pressure on all the rest. Between them the directors have to balance the lot and keep the club solvent!

Now let's be honest I want the best players for the club but I do not know
what the budget is and I have insufficient knowledge of the performance and character of the players that are available.

I do know Jordan that is a scheming, self-important meglomaniac!

As for the Blues Board we will know more when the transfer window closes, but they have on the whole, Scharner excepted, supported Bruce. That does not mean that Bruce is not working to a budget. Frankly we cannot compete at this stage of the game with the Abromovich's, Arsenal's and Man. Utd.

However I do believe that we will survive to fight at least another season in the Premiership. KRO!

Jordan article

Did we really put in a bid for AJ, or is Jordan using the press in exactly the same way as he's accusing everyone else?!

A brilliant piece by Jordan and spot on in his judgement of the football/media industries. The FA and Football League should get together to re-write the rules of conduct.

So, we didn't bid for AJ then? Sullivan - you're a lying toad!
